On this week’s episode we discuss all things cultural appropriation.  With Halloween quickly approaching, we talk about how cultural appropriation functions within communities of color, and the dos and don’ts of cultural costumes. We sat down with Zoe Allen (she/her), a senior Afro-American/African Studies major to delve into the topic. We discussed the varying definitions of cultural appropriation as well as standard ways to not culturally appropriate. We talk about our ideas surrounding public figures and cultural appropriation as well as expectations surrounding being culturally educated. Zoe provides great historical context for many issues presented in today’s conversation and a great sense of humor to accompany it. You can follow her  on Instagram @casuallyconceited.
